What is line (aline) boring?

Line boring is the realignment of the main bearing journals of your crankcase, and recutting them to the next possible over size, meaning you can fit oversized main bearings and rebuild your engine back to factory specifications.

It is very important this process is done correctly, and we work to very fine tolerances, to ensure your replacement main bearings fit correctly, we always measure the bores to ensure they have been machined correctly and within tolerance, we can check the bearing to crank fitment for you prior to sending your crankcase back, so you can have piece of mind to continue with the next step of your engine rebuild.

Thrust cutting service

We also provide a thrust cutting service where required, or we can machine an oversize thrust bearing to fit your case, which helps leave some life in the case for future builds.

Thrust cutting is the machining of the rear main thrust surface, which is what wears and causes end float on your Aircooled engine.

Once the thrust cutting has been completed, an oversized thrust bearing is required.
